Pen names

There has been mass debate over whether authors should use a pseudonym. I was advised I should for a couple of reasons; anonymity and my name was too big for covers. (bet you never thought about that last one, huh.)
Well. in the end I decided, after days of playing with names, to keep my own. It took me enough time to adopt my married name, I wasn't prepared to give it up just yet.
So, dismissing the 'too big for a cover' theory, I kept my name.
Do I regret this? Nah. I have conducted many library author chats with press being my friend, having my own name, being a community member helped getting the word out. My facebook is littered with community members and because I primarily write YA/NA it is also filled with participating teens.
But here is the thing...I can't write taboo, erotic, highly explicit anything for ALL of the above reasons. So to write a R-18+ book, I had to make up a whole new identity. This was fun and amazing to see different doors open, different readership and bloggers. The downside, it stays pretty quiet who this alter ego is. Not only that, but only 'one of us' can write a book at a time. This means one load of readers have to wait and not many understand why.
I average #2 books a year. This also means I have to break it down to #1 per ego.
If you have been wondering why I have been so quiet; this is why.
I now know how Superman, Batman, Spiderman feel like. There are so many things that make  it hard to have an alter ego; facebook- you have to log out and log back in as different user. My God that's annoying. Blogs, bloggers, messages, promo, GAHHHH
Exhausted and under the pressure I feel I need to tell the world.

But that never turns out for the superheroes, now does it?!

Grammar help

So I have come to realize not only must I have not paid attention to my general english class, but also have the knack to defy all grammar laws known to man. I try to claim that I am a rebel ... but we all know the truth. I just suck at grammar.
How can I write a book/books, have them published, and not know grammar worth a damn.
Well, not only having an great editor is the key, but knowing your shiz is better.
Until now, I have burdened my editors and it is hard work. Note I said 'until now.'
An author buddy told me of this program that I am trialling; it's called Grammarly.com. You can try it right there on the site with a pasted piece of you work. I was freaking amazed!
I signed up for the free trial and the yearly subscription because I know I will get use from it.
Not only does it show you grammar suggestions, spelling, but also, enhancements and possible plagiarisms. You don't get those last two in MW. You can use the program right there on your MS doc or on their site and just save or print the report. I personally like using it on MW. It even adds an icon in your tools.
I'm still in the first stages of using this tool, but I love it already.

Who knew you had to use a comma before an 'and', EVER?! or things like, Use of articles? Redundant comma in ...
You get the point.
LOL.

So, if you have trouble with grammar, this is my friendly tip.

KDP payment options

Well I had this whole blog in my head ready to tell you how us Aussies can get paid into an account and use a prepaid master card just like eftpos. Instead of taking months to get paid it would be...well maybe a month. Haha

I just got it all organised, even had KDP cancel checks they were sending and asked to place funds in the said account. At no time did they say, Kez, we are about to announce you can use your Australian account and be paid Australian dollars. 

GAH!

Yep, I get an email this morning that has been sent to thousands telling me this new piece of fantastic news. 

Right now, I want to kick my employers butt!

So for those who don't know, you now can get paid into your own account! Check your emails!

On an even better note, I cracked that 50k today. The story is on the down hill. LOVE IT!

NEVER GOODBYE Teaser #1

“Don’t lick your lips and look all innocent, because all I want to do is kiss you and I promised you that you could trust me.” Holy crap, he wants to kiss me!

I swallow the huge lump that’s formed in my throat and reach out to touch his cheek when his eyes spring open. “Keep them closed.”

“Closed?”

“Closed.” I smile, because he actually does what he’s told. I love that he makes me smile. I love that he makes me feel something other than sorrow and grief. Slowly I lean across the wide bench seat, ignoring my screaming brain cells telling me to stop and I hover before his lips. Then, just before they meet his, I tilt my head and I kiss his cheek and feel his grin against my own. Yep, it’s official — I’m a big chicken, but I still loved every second of it.

He opens his eyes slowly, keeping the big grin I’ve brought to his face as he looks at my lips and then my eyes and for a moment I wish I had gone through with it.

Never Goodbye sends 10% sales to 6yr old cancer battler

My baby just went live!

Okay, so this is my 6th book. But never before has it been so real. 

Never Goodbye is something different. It's closer than anything I have done before because I have shared so much of my life in there.

You see, when I was a teen, I had cancer. 

Actually, I was given two weeks to live and I will always remember what that did to my parents.

Any way, in the beginning of the novel I put a personal note of my story followed by the story of little Chase. He too is fighting cancer, only he is just 6 years old and this is his second round. *heartbreak.

So, after finding out he and his family are battling through this once again I knew I had to help and the only way I could, was through sales.

Now, 10% of sales will be going to Chase and his family with their approval to fight against the growing medical bills and fuel.

Never Goodbye had gone live today and on top of that good news, I just got word Chas can walk a little now, so treatment is working. *pray*

What I need from you all is to share your butts off, if you can't buy the book, then share the cause.

Chase won't be going to Kindergarten tomorrow with the rest of his friends, but I want him to know we are all here for him.
