I feel naughty just being this girls friend. LOL.
Introducing, Shelly Pratt- erotic author.
18 years and over |
Tell us a little about yourself and how you became a
writer.
At 33 I didn’t want to get a lame job that paid pittance … So I got a
great job that pays pittance! LOL, seriously, I wanted to do something
meaningful for me when my kids started school. Writing was it!
That was probably the most honest and best answer i have ever received. Love it!
Are you an Indie author or traditionally published?
Both. I had my first novel published by a small American publisher
and have self-published four other books I have written.
How do your stories come to life, from fiction or fantasy?
A little of both. I like to write a few different genres so I tend to
just go with whatever ideas pop into my mind.
Are you a ‘go with the flow’ writer or do you have
structure?
Definitely go with the flow! I just start typing and don’t stop until
I am done!
It's true. She has swift fingers!
Have you always wanted to be a writer or did you want to be
something else?
Maybe subconsciously yes. I have always loved books!
What groups are you affiliated with and how have they
helped you through your journey of publication?
Through a mum from school I was introduced to her sister-in-law –
author Karlene Blakemore-Mowle. She really was instrumental in getting my
started in all things publishing. I am so grateful she shared her writing
groups and years of experience with me.
She is my wingman. I love her guts!
How much marketing do you involve yourself in and with the
mass consumption of social media, does this play a part in your marketing
choice?
To be honest I hate marketing myself. I really would rather have
someone do it for me as I hate to put myself out there. Sometimes it seems like
a lot of effort for little reward, but it is the best feeling in the world when
a satisfied reader connects with you and tells you they loved your book. It
makes it all worth it!
Hells yes! I agree 100%
Here’s a random one for you. If you could be one animal,
which would it be and why?
I’d probably like to be a bird of some sort – I would love to fly!
But being a cute cat or dog would be great too – I’d be sure to get lots of
cuddles!
What would you say is your inspiration to write in general
or writing a particular scene?
No one thing in particular. I have snap shots of a scene in my head
and then I just go write it. But quite often it is just living everyday life
that inspires different stories out of me.
Tell me about how you came up with your title and cover?
I wanted to write an erotic novel and wanted a catchy title that
could be used in different ways for each book. Sleeping the Tier just sounded
right, and I thought was a bit of a double entendre too.
Do you have any tips for other aspiring writers or authors
out there?
;D
So, I think we’ve gotten to know you a little now. How’s
about we step it up a notch. Are you panicking? Lol. Do you have any dirty
little secrets or confessions you’d like to share with us- what’s on the blog
stays on the blog, right guys. (wink)
Hmmm, I’m bossy and a bit of a control freak. I’m insecure about my
weight and constantly think about what I am putting in my mouth. I love
ferociously !
Where’s your favourite place to write?
Anywhere comfortable. A nice squishy seat for my ass is just the
ticket!
Tell us of your releases- where and when can we buy them?
All of my books are on Amazon at the moment. The second book in the
Tiers Chronicles – No More Tiers will be out by the end of Jan 2013
In one word, how would you best describe yourself?
Intense.
Bahahaha 100%
Now that we’re all friends, tell us your most embarrassing
moment?
I don’t embarrass easily. Probably giving birth though – there is
nothing more embarrassing than that !
Jesus, yeah. Let's not even go there.
Do you have any upcoming signings or author appearances you
would like to share?
Not at the moment, but I would like to get something sorted for early
this year!
Is there anything else that you would like to share with
us?
Readers, writers and authors alike will never know how much their
support is appreciated when it is given to a newbie. It lifts us up and makes
us feel wonderful. All the LIKES we get on our facebook page, all the great
reviews and the simple thank yous. Really, they mean the world J
